The Republic of Ireland (Ireland) is made up of Catholics and Northern Ireland (Part of the United Kingdom) is made up of Protestants which causes religious conflict since Catholics follow the Vatican. But more so the Republic of Ireland does not want to join the United Kingdom because of the way the English have treated the Irish and every other country they’ve attempted colonial rule upon. Basically, the Republic of Ireland wishes to preserve their culture and heritage without persecution.
