What is the difference between “Instructional Technology” and “Information Technology” in the K-12 CITI grants?
In K-12 CITI grant instructional text instructional technology is knowledge or approcahes of planning, developing, optimal utilization, management and analysis of processes and available resources for learning.
Information technology according to IT services london is related more often to issues like server support, network support, computer security etc.
Instructional can be considered as sub-part of information technology.
It has come to our attention that there may be some confusion over Instructional Technology vs. Information Technology in the K-12 CITI grants. While Instructional Technology (technology used by the teacher in instruction as a tool to aid in the learning of the subject being taught) is certainly beneficial to students, it is Information Technology education (the development of skills, conceptual understanding, and high-order thinking capabilities that comprise IT fluency. See ISTE’s National Educational Technology Standards http://cnets.iste.org) that this grant is directed to enhance.
