What is the difference between HTML and SGML ?
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the publishing language of the World Wide Web. It is a coded format language. The markup tells the Web browser how to display a Web page’s text and images for the user. SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language) is a standard for how to specify a document markup language or tag set. SGML is not in itself a document language, but a description of how to specify one. It is a metalanguage. It is possible, by means of SGML (or XML), to generate a markup language specific to a field of knowledge. HTML is a subset of SGML.
