What is the difference between Host Link Plug-in and Host Link Lite?
Host Link Plug-in and Host Link Lite are two different methods of accessing the mainframe. They both require a download of the Host Link applet, and both require Java software to run the applet. The main difference between them is how the Java software is installed. Host Link Plug-in requires the installation of Sun’s Java Plug-in software, and works independent of the browser. Host Link Lite utilizes the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) embedded in your browser. We are no longer recommending Host Link Lite due to the removal of the MSJVM from all Microsoft products. As of December 31, 2006, Host Link Lite will no longer be updated to include the latest enhancements to Host Link. Although clients will be able to continue to use Host Link Lite, support will be limited. Click here for more information.
