What is the difference between high pressure and low pressure tanning beds?
High pressure beds are typically priced higher and allow for longer tanning sessions. The beds are equipped with “cartridges” that allow for maximum UVA and very minimal UVB. However, the penetration of UVA is much further than low pressure UVA light due to the high wattage of the bulbs. High pressure beds, otherwise known as UVA Tanning, seems to last a bit longer because the rays are penetrating deeper and therefore tanning below the surface level of the epidermis, sometimes affecting the collagen layer(the muscle of your skin). Low pressure tanning, as you will find at 360 Tan is a total “surface tan” and will only tan the very top portion of the skin. Also, low pressure tanning emits both UVA and UVB to allow for the darkening effect as well as the stimulation of more melanin.
