What is the difference between HCO3 and CO2?
CO2 is a gas that dissolves in water (blood) in the form of Bicarbonate HCO3, my chemistry is a little rusty, but i think when CO2 dissolves to form HCO3, the alkilinity rises, when you release HCO3 from the blood stream, the alkalinity decreases. This is important in the case of Hypoxia, Hyperoxia, Panic Attacks… or any condition that affects the CO2 concentration in the blood.
