What is the difference between Hackney Homes and the present service?
A key difference and benefit of setting up an ALMO is the separation of the local authority’s housing management role from its strategic housing function. The creation of the ALMO should enhance both of these functions. Unlike the present service, the ALMO will be managed by a Chief Executive reporting to a Board, and it will be legally separate from the Council. Furthermore, resident empowerment will be greatly enhanced by their presence on the ALMO Board.
