What is the difference between guttered and gutterless vehicles?
Guttered vehicles have a rain gutter along each side of the vehicle where the roof panel joins the side panel of the vehicle. Gutters are most commonly found on older vehicles. Gutterless vehicles do not have a conventional rain gutter, but usually have a plastic or rubber strip or rain channel running along each side of the roof. More commonly on newer vehicles, the roof bars will attach to the vehicle using a clamp around the door apature or using fixed point fixing holes provided by the car manufacturer, either on the roof panel or inside the door aperture. Note:Some modern vehicles use guttered style roof bars to fit where the vehicle has a pronunced trim around the door aperture or where the vehicle has pockets in the roof line.
