What is the difference between Granite and Quartz?
Granite is a natural material that comes directly from the earth. Blocks are cut from mountains and shipped off to factories around the world, where they are then cut to size and polished. Since granite is a natural stone, it is porous and needs to be sealed every year or so. If they are in “high traffic” areas, the material may need to be sealed more often. Granite has a tendency to scratch and is not stain resistant. Quartz is a natural material that grows in clusters that take millions of years to develop in the earth’s crust. Quartz forms in large, faultless crystals in a wide variety of colors, giving them superior strength and beauty. Quartz is extremely hard; in fact, it is the fourth hardest mineral in the world (other than Diamond, Sapphire and Topaz). Quartz countertops are made with 93% Quartz and 7% resin and pigment. Quartz countertops have been rated #1 in “Good Housekeeping” and “Consumer Reports” for material of choice. The Quartz slabs are non-porous and have no veins,
