What is the difference between good fats and bad fats?
There is a major difference between raw (good) fats and cooked (bad) fats. Raw fats come from foods such as avocados, nuts, seeds, and olives, as well as from natural oils like olive oil, coconut oil, and grape seed oil. It may seem strange that eating a raw vegan diet results in weight loss since some of the foods are high in fat. The explanation is simplefats in raw foods contain the enzyme lipase, which digests the fat and helps the body absorb the good oils in these foods and prevents excess weight gain. On the flip side, people who eat a diet high in cooked fats are more likely to suffer from obesity and diseases like cardiovascular disease, cancer, high cholesterol and blood pressure, etc. because cooking the fat destroys the lipase and clogs the blood and arteries.
