What is the difference between German-peeled and hand-sanded logs?
After the drying process is complete, German-peeled logs are rotated against a set of spinning blades. The end result is a relatively smooth peeled look, smooth enough so that it shouldn’t give you a splinter. German-peeled logs may still have some rough spots, however, and may, under the right circumstances, snag a sweater or hose. If you want your logs smoother than this, you need to select the hand-sanded option. Under this option we hand-sand the logs down so that they are very smooth.
