What is the difference between Gel and Acrylic?
A. Gel is a honey like substance and generally clear, although it is available in colors. It is cured in a UV lamp. Gel is generally more flexible than acrylic and yellows less. It is also my experience that gel lifts less and lifting is damaging to the natural nail. Most Gels cannot be soaked off! Acrylic is a powder and liquid combined to make a paste that quickly hardens without a lamp. Acrylic is very strong and enduring. Acrylic also comes in many beautiful colors and can be soaked off in about 20 minutes with acetone (not polish remover).
