Freon (R-22) is harmful to the atmosphere and units containing this refrigerant will no longer be sold or manufactured as of January 1, 2010. Puron (R-410A) is safe for ozone and the environment and will be the only refrigerant used in new equipment manufactured as of January 1, 2010.
