Cage free simply means that the chickens are not in individual cages. Worst case scenario: Two birds to a cage. Free range means that the birds had access to the outdoors. Worst case scenario, birds in a house with a fenced in pen that has a cement floor. Pasture raised means that the birds have unrestricted access to pasture land that has grass. Grass fed is very similar but can mean either pasture raised or chickens that live in a house and are fed fresh cut grass.
