What is the difference between floor tiles and wall tiles?
Floor tile is designed to bear weight and endure foot traffic – the tiles are thicker and stronger, their glazes are more resistant to cracking or chipping and usually not slippery when wet. Wall tile, on the other hand, is not intended to bear weight. It is thinner, often with glossier glazes which are easily chipped and slippery when wet. While floor tile can be used to cover walls, one should never use wall tiles on a floor.
