What is the difference between finger-joint hardwood and handscraped ?
Finger joint molding is usually made from smaller pieces of pine that had to have the knots removed. They glue these smaller pieces end to end with a joint that looks like you put your fingers from one and between the fingers of the other hand as in clasping your hands. Pine molding is then painted to hide this joint. They do not use this method in hardwood molding because it shows. Hand scraped is molding that was scraped with a metal object to remove cutter marks or paint from the molding.
