What is the difference between Fine Silver & Sterling?

0

To put it simply, fine silver is Pure Silver 99.9% Sterling silver is an alloy- which is a mixture of metals. Sterling silver jewelry is often stamped with .925- meaning sterling is 92.5% silver & the rest is other metals- mostly copper. The addition of copper to silver makes it stronger- I use Sterling to make bracelets, neck cuffs, rings & any jewelry that needs to be more durable. Fine silver can withstand the high temperatures of the kiln & can be used to make findings & accents on the fused glass piece. I also use fine silver to make the links in my pearl & gemstone pieces. I wrap each link by hand to make the chain- it is a time consuming process, but it produces a beautiful finished product.
