What is the difference between film and Direct to Plate?
You have control over your dot gain. When using film, the dot on your plate can gain excessively when exposed in a vacuum frame. With direct to plate, the dot is imaged with a precision thermal laser, therefore, the image on the plate is clean and free of dirt that can get trapped between the film and plate causing hot spots.
