What is the difference between exchange students and fee-paying students?
Fee-paying students are students who pay tuition fee to the Universiteit van Amsterdam, with or without the help of scholarship funding. All students attending the International School in one of the Master’s degree programmes are fee-paying students. They pay tuition fee to the Universiteit van Amsterdam, are registered at the Universiteit van Amsterdam and obtain their degree from the Universiteit van Amsterdam. Undergraduate Certificate Programme students can be either exchange students or independent tuition fee-paying students Exchange students are students who attend the Universiteit van Amsterdam for a limited period of time (one or two semesters) while remaining registered as a student at their home university. They attend the Universiteit van Amsterdam within the framework of an exchange programme such as SOCRATES (ERASMUS), TEMPUS, ISEP, or a bilateral exchange between the student’s home university and the Universiteit van Amsterdam.
