What is the difference between entering video frames and film frames?

0

When the telecine film frame rate is not the same as the video frame rate, one film frame has a different length (duration) meaning as a video frame. Basically, in 625/25, 525/30, and 1080P/24, there are the same number of film frames as video frames per second. So, entering one film frame has the same meaning or length as one video frame. The primary difference is running film at 24fps (23.98) in a 30 frame (29.97) video environment. Here one film frame may represent 2 video fields or 3 video fields. When entering or trimming numbers, you must be careful which type of frame number you are entering. Trimming by one film frame “+0+1” may have a different length as one video frame “+1”.
