What is the difference between EMFs, RF, ELF and microwave radiation?
EMF is a general designation covering all types of electromagnetic fields; however, EMF is commonly used as a name for non-ionising electromagnetic fields. RF means “radiofrequency”; this is a term used mainly for frequencies in the kilohertz (thousands of hertz, or cycles per second) and low megahertz (millions of hertz) region, sometimes also for microwaves in the high megahertz and gigahertz region. ELF means “extremely low frequency”, this is EMF with frequencies below 3000 hertz; the most common ELF is generated from 50 and 60 hertz power lines and electrical equipment.
