What is the difference between Emeritus and Retired patron status, and what are the differences in their library privileges?

Retired OSU Faculty and Staff are eligible for a card as “OSU Retired.” This status allows a 3-week loan period for most items and access to all on-site materials, with bound journals being for in-library use only. Emeritus Faculty status is available by appointment from a retired faculty member’s former department. This appointment entitles Emeritus Faculty to full faculty privileges including the extended loan of OSU Libraries materials (with due dates in June and December) and Summit and ILL borrowing privileges. Some OSU retirees consider themselves Emeritus, but without the actual departmental appointment to this status, they will receive OSU Retired loan privileges.
