What is the difference between electrical force and chemical force over a membrane?
I think that a chemical force would be due to differences in the concentration of a molecule on either side of the membrane, whereas an electrical force would be a difference due to different charges on either side of the membrane. So there might be more Na+ on one side of the membrane than the other, which is a chemical force, but at the same time one side of the membrane is more positive than the other (due to the + charge of the Na+), creating an electrical force.
