What is the difference between dynamic IP and static IP?

0

An IP is an address assigned by your Internet service provider (ISP). It is used to give your computer or other device access to the Internet. Some DSL products use a dynamic IP address, meaning that your ISP assigns you a different IP each time you access the Internet. That IP is taken from a pool of addresses. Other DSL products use one or more static IP addresses that are dedicated to specific customers. In addition to typical Internet browsing and downloading, static IP addresses can be used to host Web or Email servers. Verizon Business DSL with static IP enables customers to have up to 29 static IP addresses.

A Dynamic IP is an assigned IP by an ISP which keeps changing for every certaine period of time or on every reset of the modem.

A Static IP is also an assigned IP which never changes and remains same. It does not changes even when a reset is done for the modem.

To check if an IP is dynamic or static, Visit www.IP-Details.com before and after resetting the modem. If the website displays same IP address on both time then it is a static IP. If the website displays different IP address then it is a dynamic IP.
