What is the difference between DVD-R, DVD+R, and DVD video?
Hollywood produces movies on DVD’s that are “Glass Mastered”. The information is etched onto a glass disc. This disc is then used to stamp out millions of copies on DVD. This format is called DVD video. Stamping is a much faster and therefore economical way to produce millions of DVD’s. However because of its high cost, when producing a small number of DVD’s, burning the discs is a more viable option. DVD+R and DVD-R are both different burning formats for recording video and audio onto DVD discs. There are other formats also but these are the 2 that Digital Treasure Video offers. Most DVD players purchased in the last 8 years will play these formats. Usually, a DVD ROM drive on a computer will also read these formats. It is best to check the compatibility of your player by checking the owner’s manual. If your manual does not say one way or another it is still likely that the discs will work.
