What is the difference between duck and goose down?
The highest quality down comes from healthy, mature geese and ducks thriving in the cold climates of Europe and the Far East. The larger the cluster, the lighter and softer the down – this is measured by fill power. Duck down clusters are often smaller than goose down, because ducks are generally smaller birds than geese. However, there are exceptions: some geese are harvested early, while some ducks are allowed to grow to maturity – in this case the quality of the mature duck down will be superior to the quality of the immature goose down.
