What is the difference between double-counting and reserving credits?
Double-counted credits are credits that are shared between the Bachelors and Masters degrees. All double-counted credits must be registered at the graduate level, applicable to both programs of study, and completed with a grade of C or better. Since double-counted courses must be compatible with both the undergraduate and graduate program, it is important for BA/MA students to work closely with their graduate and undergraduate advisors to ensure that they select courses appropriate to both degrees. BA/MA students are permitted to double-count up to 12 credits between their graduate and undergraduate degrees. Students may double-count graduate level coursework completed before they were accepted into the BA/MA program if that coursework is compatible with their graduate degree requirements. In addition to the 12 double-counted credits, BA/MA students have the opportunity to reserve up to 9 credits of graduate-level coursework completed after having been accepted into the BA/MA program.
