What is the difference between DOS EBC and the new WebBirth system?
The DOS EBC allows the birth record to be entered and kept on a hospital PC workstation and transmitted through dial-up modem to DHEC. The WebBirth is a new system to replace the DOS EBC in registering a birth. The WebBirth lets hospital staff to enter a birth record remotely and directly through the Internet into a centralized database housed in DHEC headquarter office. The two systems do not connect to each other, but they were designed and developed by the same company – Genesis Corporation.
