There is a distinct difference between the various types of computers sold and used. The first type of dive computer is the Non-Air Integrated computer. A Non-Air Integrated computer has no ability to inform the diver about their gas supply, only pressure rating, depth, bottom time and temperature. The second type of dive computer is the Air Integrated computers. Air Integrated means that the dive computer also has the ability to measure and monitor the amount of pressure in the Tank(s). The third type of computer is Air Integrated and adds the ability to understand Gas mixtures that are not pure air or 20.9% oxygen. These computers are referred to as Nitrox Capable and may range from the very simple to the highly complex units that can deal with a variety of gas mixtures. To summarize: a dive computer may be Air Integrate Nitrox Computer, which means that it can handle gas mixtures with greater than 20.9% oxygen (Nitrox) and inform the diver about the amount of the gas supply as well
