What is the difference between data entry, bookkeeping, and accounting?
Data entry, also known as transcription, is entering hand written information into a computer software like Microsoft Word. Bookkeeping is recording financial transactions into the correct categories, or accounts, in a software system. Bookkeeping requires experience, certification, or additional education. Accountants prepare financial reports and interpret financial information. Most Accountants must have extensive experience and at least a bachelor’s degree. Some accountants are licensed, or certified, by their state and are called CPA’s.
