The operation of a current regulator is similar to that of a voltage regulator. The basic difference is that one regulates current and the other regulates voltage. Voltage regulation for brakes and clutches has limitations because of a change in coil resistance due to heat. Therefore, voltage regulation is not practical for use with electromechanical brakes and clutches.
