What is the difference between Counselling and Cognitive Therapy?
Counselling is often just reflective listening where the client is left to find the answers themselves. Cognitive Therapy will have all the benefits of counselling in that the therapist will be empathic and you will be listened to in an accepting, non-judgemental way. However Cognitive Therapy goes further as it is an active programme of treatment, which sets goals and tasks. This has been proved to be a more effective method of treatment.
