What is the difference between core2duo and dual core processors of intel??
There are three familys of Intel desktop processors, Celeron, Pentium and Core. Dual-core is based on the pentium architecture where one processor has two cores on the same chip just like the Core Duo processors. Core Duo and Core 2 Duo are a new class of processors titled…Core. They are not part of the pentium family. These processors are only 1 processor with two cores that are on the same chip. Some people like to refer to them as two processors but it is only one, but it kinda has two brains that can work at the same time on different things if the software it is running can take advantage of it. But Core Duo and Dual-core are similar in that they both are one processor with two cores on the same chip. The difference in Core Duo and Core 2 Duo is only in speed. Core Duo, drops off at one speed and the Core 2 picks up where it left off. There is actually a Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Extreme out now but this is mainly used for heavy duty hardcore gaming and intense multimedia creation
