What is the difference between Converted Housing and Temporary Housing?
Both converted and temporary housing allows Housing Services to maximize its use of housing spaces to place as more students into housing at the beginning of the year. Since the demand for housing usually exceeds the amount of spaces available, Housing has identified different spaces on campus (floor lounges, double and triple rooms) to accommodate more students in need of housing. Converted Housing is when students are assigned to regular residential spaces that have been converted from a double or super double space to a triple sapce, or a regular triple space converted to a quad space. Students who are assigned to a Converted Space are considered permanent residents of that space. Converted Space residents will not be required to move during the academic year. Should a resident of a Converted Space request a move to a standard space, thier request will be processed ahead of regular room change requests.
