Hi Donna, Variables are those aspects of an experiment can be different while the “control” is the same in each experiment. See the example below. I will grow peas and the variables are: The soil amount of water access to light temperature sound fertilizer. In the experiment I will control all of these variables except one. The amount of light each group gets. THere are 5 groups of plants all have the same soil, get the same amount of water at the same time, are at the same temperature, same sound level and no fertilizer. The control group (group 6) does not have light as a variable as the other 5 groups do. Group one gets NO light, Group 2 gets 1 hr of light per time frame, group 3 gets 3 hours of light per time frame, Group 4 gets 5 hours of light per time frame and Group 5 gets 7 hours of light per time frame.
