What is the difference between contract assignments and per diem assignments?

0

Contract assignment is for a specified time frame, usually 13 weeks for a minimum number of hours per week. During this contractual time the hospital guarantees a minimum number of hours, usually 36-40 hours per week on a specified unit. Per Diem or PRN assignments are on an “as needed” basis. You are under no obligation to schedule shifts. You work when, where and how often you want to, however the hospital does not guarantee any hours.
