What is the difference between considering GPA and Test Scores individually versus in a selection index?

0

Currently, GPA and test scores are combined as follows: a GPA is calculated using a standard 4.0 method and based on final marks in 7th grade major subjects and first quarter marks in 8th grade major subjects. That GPA and the verbal and math raw scores are combined in a formula that weights the test 80% and the GPA 20%. The resulting number for each applicant is his/her selection index. The highest selection index number will be earned by the applicant with a 4.0 GPA and a perfect verbal and math raw score (or the highest verbal and math raw scores if no one scored a perfect).
