What is the difference between Computational Science and Computer Science?
Computer Science does not have any life or physical science focus to it. Students will learn purely computer science and all of its incarnations in this program. It’s administered through the School of Computer Science in the Faculty of Mathematics. Computational Science combines computer science, mathematics, and science courses with the emphasis on life and physical science. You can focus on biochemistry, chemistry, earth sciences, or physics within the program. The program aims to produce computer-literate scientists who will use sophisticated computer modelling to solve scientific problems. You will develop a solid computer base, but if you’re not interested in science, or computer modeling involving science, this program is not for you!
