What is the difference between Composite / S-Video / Component video?

0

Composite is the typical yellow plug that is used for SD video transfer. These video signals typically merge the chrominance & luminance into one signal. Luminance (Y) and Chrominance (C) remain separated with S-Video (Y/C) , resulting in improved picture quality. Component video keeps the Red/Green/Blue component video signals strictly separated resulting in the best picture quality for analogue signals and, unlike composite or S-Video, is capable of carrying HD signals.
