What is the difference between comments in the gradebook and comments within assignments?

The comment feature in the grade book is tied to an audit history as a mechanism to aid in the reminder of why a grade was changed. Students do not see these comments. The workaround is to provide feedback via a grading form or via the comments field embedded in the assignment. In the discussion and assignment tools, a grading form can be created with performance factors. The grading form can then be attached to the discussion thread or assignment. Comments to students can be added along with a grade. To create a grading form, click on the “Teach tab”. Under “Instructor Tools” click on Grading Forms. Next select Create Grading Form. All settings can be changed by selecting the pencil icon next to each section. To attach a grading form to an assignment or discussion, edit the properties and select the newly created form. If you have any questions regarding feedback or grading forms, please call us.
