What is the difference between commencement and convocation? Do I need to attend both?
Commencement is a university exercise where the graduating class receives group recognition from school officials and special guests. Convocation is a ceremony where you will receive individual recognition of your graduation by your college. Commencement is the first day of graduation exercises and convocation is the next.
