What is the difference between comb, coil, and velo-binding?
Comb Binding (aka GBC binding) – 19 rings with a rectangular hole, commonly used for cookbooks and hymnals. Easy to add or remove pages. Coil Binding (aka Spiral Binding) – a continous coil of plastic spun into the book, typically 44 hole on a standard book. Great if your book needs to lay flat or fold back upon itself. Velo Binding – This is a tight binding that works well for large legal documents that need to be shelved well. Requires a special tool to debind or re-bind.
