What is the difference between coma and brain-death?
Brain death is quite rare. Patients can be in a coma or have severe brain damage but still have some brain function and not be brain dead. Most patients in a coma are not brain dead, and they sometimes recover. Patients who are brain dead (whole brain dead and brain-stem dead), on the other hand, have no chance of recovery.
