What is the difference between column bleed and septum bleed?

0

Column bleed is a constant process that increases with temperature. It looks very much like an increasing slope that will level off when held at a constant temperature. The main bleed ions observed when using methylsilacone phases such as ZB-1 and ZB-5 are 207, 281, 355, 74. Septum bleed creates peaks that elute in a repeating pattern that have the same mass ions. The peak intensities resemble a bell curve similar to a diesel fuel sample. The main difference is that septum bleed creates peaks. Column bleed will not create peaks!
