What is the difference between College Now and Advanced Placement courses?
Like College Now, the Advanced Placement (AP) program offers interested students the opportunity to complete college-level coursework while still in high school. The programs differ, however, with respect to cost, eligibility, course offerings, teacher training, final examinations, and transfer of credit. College Now is totally free of charge with respect to tuition, books and examinations. It offers a limited number of freshman-level college credit and preparatory courses, approved by Kingsborough Community College under the auspices of CUNY (City University of New York). College Now instructors are high school faculty members who posses the ability and interest to teach a college-level course. College Now courses conclude with a two-hour in-class final exam developed by the instructor.
