What is the difference between coaxial and component speakers?

0

component speakers have advantages in a few different areas, the main one being flexibility. because component speakers (sometimes called separates) can actually have the tweeter and mid separated, you can have them located in areas that will work best for show, sound stage, or imaging purposes in your particular install. in general, component speakers can handle more power. they also include a passive crossover which are generally designed to attenuate the higher or lower frequencies sent to each part of the component set at the correct time to allow for the smoothest overall frequency response. i personally prefer component speakers. however, they are, in general, more expensive than coaxials so if you are on a budget, stick with the coaxials. coaxials are also easier to install if you don’t have a lot of knowledge regarding car audio installations.
