The CMP (Certified Meeting Planner) designation is more tactically focused, is for someone in the industry 3-5 years and teaches you how to be a meeting planner. The CMM is more strategic focused for someone in the industry >10 years and teaches you how to think and act strategically. The CMP is like a bachelor’s degree while a CMM is like a Master’s.
