What is the difference between clinical laboratory scientists and medical technologists?
These professionals were originally called medical technologists when the profession began in the 1930’s. In recent years, the term “medical technology” has come to mean the technological equipment used to diagnose and treat patients such as renal dialysis equipment, CAT scanners, and the like. So, we have changed the name of our profession to clinical laboratory science as a more accurate description of our role.
