CIS 196 covers the technologies that support a network. It includes protocols and services offered by the Windows 2003 Server operating system, e.g. TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WINS, RAS, VPNs, IPSec. CIS 195 covers the Server operating system; it touches upon the above networking technologies, but also includes installation, filesystem support, domain controllers, group policy, user accounts, printing, auditing and performance monitoring. Both courses include topics on Active Directory.
