What is the difference between Chiropractic, quiromasajes (advertised everywhere in Spain) and physiotherapy?
Chiropractic: Doctors of Chiropractic complete 7 years of University training (in the US, UK or France, but not yet in Spain), which means that they have the same amount of scientific knowledge as medical doctors. The main difference is that medical doctors prescribe drugs, whereas doctors of Chiropractic treat their patients with their hands, by doing manual adjustments of the spine and vertebrae. Doctors of Chiropractic are specialists in health problems originating in the spinal column and how these affect the nervous system. As such, they are habilitated to establish a chiropractic diagnosis, which allows them to make the best treatment decisions for their patients. Physiotherapy: physiotherapists in Spain complete only 3 years of University-level training. They provide rehabilitation therapy for injured ligaments and muscles.
